Most of the people are looking for holistic and natural approaches to manage and control diabetes. The only natural cure which is getting considerable amount of attention is the usage of bitter gourd juice. It is sometimes known as an ampalaya, it has an acquired taste, buts bitter melon’s effects as an agent helps in controlling diabetes are overwhelming. People who are looking for natural methods to control diabetes can be glad to see the bitter gourd as a powerful alternative treatment for medications.

How to Control Diabetes with Bitter Gourd?

  • Firstly select firm bitter gourds with no or few skin blemishes. It must measure about 5 – 12 inches long and must be either in the color of yellow-orange or green. The yellow-orange variety is not that bitter, but it has less powerful properties which lets the juice of bitter melon for controlling diabetes.
  • Choose an Asian variety which are available from April – September.
  • You can store bitter melon in a plastic or paper bag. Each bitter gourd must be free from netting or rubber bands. You can store them for about 3 – 5 days.
  • You must wash the bitter melons in cool water.
  • Slice them well in such a way that the insides are exposed well.
  • Use tablespoon to remove the seeds of bitter melon.
  • Extract juice from bitter gourds by blending them in a juicing machine. You must use 4 – 5 melons to get a glass of juice.
  • In the morning, drink a small glass of bitter gourd juice with an empty stomach. If it consumed on an empty stomach, the juice accelerate the curative properties and thus controls diabetes.
  • Bitter melon juice must be continued for a period of 3 – 5 months.

Kapalbhati Pranayama

It is power-breathing techniques that help to over come blues, stress, negative values and depression in few minutes. It is the only technique used particularly for mind purificication among all the yoga-cleansing exercises. It is one of the pranayamas that can cure diabetes. Though, cleansing breath is a simple procedure, but it is important that it should be done properly in accurate way.
Sit comfortably in any meditative posture either cross-legged or in vajrasana with spine erect. Exhale through both nostrils, contracting the middle and lower abdomen portions. Release the contractions quickly and immediately follow with another forceful exhalation. Inhale passively and effortlessly. Gradually increase the frequency to about 100 strokes/minute. After the round take a deep breath and gradually exhale.
It has been observed that the heat generated during this exercise has powerful effects on the respiratory system because it purifies the nasal passage and the lungs. Regular practice of this exercise will truly show amazing results. Since there is large-scale elimination of carbon dioxide and a huge absorption of oxygen this technique also increases in the lungs manifold.

Anuloma-Viloma Pranayama

Ujjayi Pranayama

Ujjayi Pranayama stretches the breath, warms it before entering the lungs, and helps to build heat in the body. Ujjayi Pranayama is sometimes called the ocean sounding breath. Inhalation and exhalation are both done through the nose. Ujjayi breathing means breathing slowly through your nostrils – about 4 to 5 heartbeats in and about 4 to 5 heartbeats out. The air is taken into the back of the throat with a constriction of the muscles, resulting in a hissing sound – an ocean sound. As the throat passage is narrowed the speed of the air passing through it is increased. This makes the breath long and thin. This pranayama also clears the nasal passage and helps the thyroid gland to function smoothly and benefits respiratory disorders. The people suffering from high blood pressure should not practise Ujjayi.
Anuloma Viloma is in fact an alternate Nostrol Breathing Technique and a process of purification. It strengthens the lungs and calms the nerves. It helps the human body to get rid off the toxins that have built up through stress and pollution. This pranayama also helps to cure diabetes, cough and colds, insomnia, chronic headaches and asthma.
Sit in a comfortable meditative pose or in padmasana keeping the head, neck and spine erect. Fold your index and middle finger of right hand towards palm. Now thumb should remain towards right nostril and ring finger and little finger should be towards left nostril. Closing the right nostril with the thumb inhale through the left nostril. Now closing the left nostril with the ring finger and the little finger, exhale slowly through right nostril removing the thumb. After exhalation, inhale through the same nostril (right). Now closing the right nostril with thumb exhale through left nostril (removing the ring finger and the little finger) as per previous practice. This completes one round of easy Anuloma-Viloma. Care must be taken that the inhaling and exhaling should be done very slowly without making any sound. This exercise should be repeated 10 times.

Cleansing Processes

Shankha Prakshalana or Master cleansing is generally recommended for diabetes. Complete Shankha Prakshalana takes one day and is recommended once in 6 months, but smaller version of it can be done 3 months a week. This process cleanses the Gastro Intestinal tract completely. Cleansing process involves drinking 2 glasses of warm, salty water with lemon juice added to it. Then performing 6 different exercises speed up the peristaltic movements one needs to evacuate bowels. In 2 hours about 7 to 8 bowels are completed till the clear water is evacuated.

Dr.Elchuri's recipes for DIABETES

Causes and remedies:
  • Eating frequently, worrying incessantly, leading a lethargic life are the prime reasons for inviting Diabetes. Not treating the ups and downs of life equally. Not having satisfaction with what you have are also some of the reasons.
  • During the attack of diabetes, Pancreas gets weakened and will not produce sufficient insulin.
  • Always feel that I am the creator, I am the doer and and I am the object of my activities and that I can drive away any disease of mine. Body should be cleansed. Fire element should be activate in our Manipuraka chakra.


Symptoms before attack of Diabetes:
i) Burning sensation in hands and feet.
ii) Depression (protruding inside) of face, jaws.
iii) Frequent accumulation of floss a paste like substance (paachi) on the teeth.
iv) Shooting pains in legs and calves.
v) Feeling sweetness in mouth.
vi) Gathering of ants around the stagnated urine passed in the night.

Recipe No.1:
Dry usirika kayalu : 1 palm full (after removing seeds)
Soak usirika kaayalu (pieces) along with 2 or 3 tulasi leaves in one glass of water overnight.
Usage:
Drink the water early in the morning daily.
Benefits:
Good relief for Eye problems, Urinary problems, skin problems, Diabetes.

Recipe No.2:
Apply paste of soaked goose berry (usirika kaayalu) (soaked overnight) to entire body. Wait for half an hour and take bath.
Benefits :
Skin will glow with brightness, stamina improves, energy improves, Diabetes will be eliminated.

Recipe No.3:
Prepare paak out of 1 kg usirirasam and 1 kg candy sugar powder. Stir it on SIM flame till honey like paak is obtained. Store in bottle.
Usage:
For small children (4 to 6 years) : ½ spoon
For children above 6 years: 2 spoons.
Mix in one cup of cold water (stored in a pot) and drink once in the morning and evening.
Benefits:
Eye sight improves, hair will blacken, cheeks will grow, stains/spots will vanish, heart will be strengthened, urinary problems will be eliminated, diseases of liver, spleen and heart will be prevented.
At least use goose berry powder along with candy sugar powder if the above paak could not be prepared.

Recipe No.4:
Coffee for Diabetics:
Seeds of neredu fruits: 100 gms (powder)
Flower of Eka duha : 100 gms
Sugandhi roots : 100 gm (Pound and make powder)
Mix all constituents add one or two spoons taati bellam to 2 or 3 spoons powder and prepare coffee.

Recipe No.5:
Tips for Diabetics:
i) Use old unpolished rice but not polished rice.
ii) Avoid sweets, meat and other fatty foods.
iii) Physical exercise is a must.
iv) Wear tulasimala prepared with copper wire (3 dandalu). Asthma, heart problems, diabetes can be alleviated.
v) Be at mental peace always.
vi) Use less sugar. Use old jaggery or taati bellam in limited quantity.
vii) Stay away from bad habits.
viii) Daily foods should contain all the six ruchis (pulupu, teepi, chedu, uppu, vagaru, karam, ) in an equal manner.
ix) In case of juvenile diabetes do not force/stress children to read more or threaten them or subject them to worry.
x) Ladies should not eat chilly, masala during the three day periods. They should take unpolished rice, moong dal, ghee, candy sugar. No problems like diabetes will arise.

Recipe No.6:
Krishna tulasi (black tulasi) leaves.
Wash, dry, make powder and store.
Add 1 or 2 chitikas to whatever food is prepared.
Benefits:
Protection from Diabetes, Astma, TB, cough, heart problems

Recipe No.7:
Aswagandha powder : 100 gm
Atimadhuram powder : 100 gm
Aaku patri (Biryani aaku) : 100 gm
Mix all uniformly and store in a glass bottle.
Usage:
1 or 2 spoons powder with a cup of warm milk two times a day.
Benefits:
Nervous system strengthens, peaceful mind, mental problems removed, Diabetes is controlled.

Recipe No.8:
Yoga treatment:
i) Vajraasanam for 10 to 15 minutes.
ii) Vakraasanam
iii) Bhujangasanam
iv) Uttana padasanam
v) Pavana muktasanam
vi) Dhanurasanam
vii) Sasankasanam
viii) Sapta Vajrasanam
ix) Ushtasanam
x) Anuloma viloma praanaayaam
xi) Gomukhasanam
xii) Exercise: Sit in Padmasana or sukhasana posture, place your hands on the back downwards to the stomach and lock them. Bend to left/right positions. Breathe in while bending and breathe out while coming to normal position (straight position). Bend forward and bend backwards, duly breathing in while bending and breathing out while coming to normal position. Rotate your upper portion of trunk in clockwise and anti clockwise direction. Perform all these atleast 11 times each.
xiii) Self hypnosis: Perform the self hypnosis exercise while doing yoga nidra. Relax all the organs of the body part by part. (Better follow Dr.Pattabhiram CD for relaxation).
xiv) Accupressure points: Pancreas and Adrenal gland points two hundred times each three times a day (Refer book 'Health in your Hands' by Devendra Vohra - Gala publications).

Recipe No.9:
Good turmeric powder: 250 gm
Goose berry powder (Usirikaayala podi) : 250 gm
Mix uniformly and store in a glass bottle.
Usage:
¼ to ½ spoon for children and 1 spoon for elders before food with one hour gap.
Two times a day with warm water.

Recipe No.10:
Plain gold piece : 10 gm
Silver piece : 20 to 30 gm
Copper piece : 40 to 50 gm
Iron nails (without rust) : 40 to 50 gm
Wash all with tamarind, clean and put them in a vessel containing 4 glasses of water. Boil till 2 glasses remains.
Usage:
Make three parts and drink 3 times a day daily.
Benefits:
The tattvas of the metals enter the water. Gives strength to brain. Brain power increases 100 times. Pancreas will be activated, diabetes will be controlled. Weakness will reduce within four months of daily usage. Gradually reduce the dosage of medicne in case of diabetes.

Recipe No.11:
Ladduga chakka : 100 gm
Tunga gaddalu :100 gm
Karakkaya : 100 gm
Gummadi teku : 100 gm
Dry all the above constituents and make powder and store.
Usage:
Add 1 spoon powder to 1 glass water and boil. After warming, add 1 spoon honey and take it one hour after meals.
Benefits:
Diabetes will come under control.

Recipe No.12:
Soak either neredu leaves (Jamun tree leaves) or Jaamaku leaves (Guava tree leaves) in a glass of water over night. Gargle with the water (ater removing leaves) early in the morning and then rink the water. Do this for 40 days. Gives good results for Diabetics.

Recipe No.13:
Neredu coffee:
Neredu ginjala powder : 100 gm (Jamun seeds powder)
Dry moduga chettu flowers : 100 gm (Available in pachaari shop)
Sugandha phala root powder : 100 gms.
Mix all the powders and store.
Usage:
Add one spoon powder to one glass water and boil till half glass remains. Add tati bellam powder or old jaggery powder and drink. Diabetes will be alleviated.

Recipe No.14:
Apply paste of soaked usirika pieces soaked in milk entire the body. Wait till it dries for one hour and take bath.
Benefits:
Skin will glow, immunity increases, diabetes will be eliminated.

Recipe No.15:
Mix manchi pasupu (Nisamalaki turmeric) and usirika powder in equal quantity and store. Take 1/4 to 1/2 spoon for children and 1 spoon for elders along with 1 glass warm water 2 times a day with one hour gap before/after food.
Benefits:
Reduces excess heat and diabetes is alleviated.

Recipe No.16:
Roti for diabetes:
Chana dal : 100 gm
Barley powder : 50 gm
Jeera : 3 pinches
Vamu powder : 3 pinches
Pepper powder : 3 pinches
Saindhavalavanam : 3 pinches.

Prepare batter to consistency to prepare roti. Prepare the roti by burning on SIM flame. Apply naatu aavu ghee. Chew the roti 32 times (even any other food) to give less burden to pancreas and other digestive organs. Diabetes will run away from us.
